When not to wait
Seek care promptly for severe or persistent abdominal pain, especially pain that spreads to your back. Vomiting that stops you from keeping fluids down needs prompt attention, and so do signs of dehydration. Fainting or severe dizziness also warrants a call. Swelling of the face or throat, or a widespread rash, can signal an allergic reaction and needs urgent help.
Mounjaro carries a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodent studies. It is contraindicated in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, or with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). If either applies to you, or if you notice a neck lump or hoarseness, tell your prescriber right away. Confirm the current wording in the label before making decisions.
A gradual start is the whole point of the 2.5 mg dose. It gives your body time to adapt, gives your prescriber information to work with, and gives you a clearer picture before any increase. Bring your log and your questions to the next appointment, and let your prescriber make the decisions about dose and timing. Your job is to report what you feel, and theirs is to decide what comes next.
